About Lisa L. Daniels

Lisa L. Daniels is a registered mental health counselor located in Northern Vermont. She has recently extended her practice online through Blue Lotus Counseling Services.
I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, which means that I come from the belief that your thoughts heavily influence your behaviors, and that sometimes we aren’t fully conscious of this thought/behavior process. Uncovering the unconscious thoughts can help us create behavioral changes and walk us towards a happier life.
My therapy is client- centered. This means that I will not push a client to discuss anything until he/ she feels comfortable and is ready. I do not use genograms or ask for a family history as an initial consult. Building a relationship of trust and security is essential to good therapy; I believe that allowing the client to move at his or her own pace helps to build trust.
My therapy relies heavily on Buddhist psychology, particularly the practice of mindfulness and attachment as they relate to buddhism. I am not a practicing buddhist and my therapy has no religious leanings- I believe in these concepts because they have been proven to help clients find peace in dealing with anxiety and depression.
If we can throw away the urge to trace our patterns in each other’s hearts, we can then truly see one another.
